Jeffrey Calhoun, OD, FAAO

Dr. Calhoun graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1996 from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where he graduated with honors. Dr. Calhoun’s internship was at the Illinois Eye Institute, also in Chicago. His externship training was at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital in Olympia Fields, Illinois, and at Warren-Barr Nursing Home in Chicago.

Personal Information:

Dr. Calhoun is an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Medicine at Daemen University and D’Youville University. He has lectured on various topics across the country on behalf of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Topcon Healthcare, and LKC Technologies. Dr. Calhoun has passed the testing necessary to become a NYS Certified Low Vision Specialist working with patients with severe vision impairments and is a consultant to the NYS Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped. Dr. Calhoun has also earned the prestigious status of Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has served as drug study coordinator for several FDA phase 3 drug studies for new Glaucoma and Dry Eye Syndrome medications.

Dr. Calhoun is a long-term member of the American Optometric Association, New York State Optometric Association, and Western New York Society of Optometrists. He is a past president of the WNYSO and NYSOA and was named NYS Optometrist of the Year in 2024 for his efforts on behalf of his profession and his patients. Dr. Calhoun is proud to be the WNY Administrator for the Vision Source network of private practice optometrists for the past 2 decades. He lives with his wife Elizabeth, daughter Julianna, son Evan, and their Welsh Corgis in Williamsville.
